Teaching Philosophy The Little Professor is a former teacher who believes that if you don't understand something ... shame on me. I am not doing my job unless I hold your hand and tell you specifically what you should do. Now and then, even experienced users need reinforcement. Downloading the Programs - Word Wacker is used in this example. #1 Read these instructions, then back arrow to the prevous screen to continue downloading the program. Your computer screen may vary but will appear as shown.
#2 With the "File Download" screen showing, click [ Save ] You will probably have a diferent folders, so of course your screen will vary. Notice that "wacker_setup.exe" is about to be downloaded.
Also notice the wacker_setup.exe file will be saved in a folder called "My Stuff" The actual location of this folder will vary, and unless you know it's location, it will difficult to find if you want to reinstall the program. Unless you have previously downloaded files, don't let the computer determine where the program will be saved on your hard drive. It is strongly suggested that a simple location for storing the file be selected. Use "Desktop" which is easy to find. Click on the down arrow to the right of the "Save in" folder. (To the right of "My Stuff".) The screen will appear as shown with "My Stuff" highlighted.
Move the cursor up and highlight "Desktop" which is normally the top folder. The screen should appear as shown.
#3 Click on the highlighted "Desktop" The screen will appear as shown. Again, the folders shown on your screen will vary, but we are now ready to save wacker_setup.exe in the desktop folder.
#4 Click [ Save ] and the screen will appear as shown.
The computer will signal when the download is completed with a "beep." Note that the [ Open ] button is now active as shown below.
Installing the Program After Downloading #5 Click on [ Open ] to install Word Wacker. When you click on [ Open ] a small window will appear as shown.

All Word Wacker programs are constantly updated to contain the most recent and up-to-date Microsoft system files. If the prompt "Do you wish to update?" appears, click [ Yes ]. Files will be updated. The screen will appear as shown.

After typing an exercise, speed and accuracy are shown. The Nimble Fingers series of typing program uses the concept of target speed. Did you reach the target speed? It is not easy; in fact it will take a lot of practice. Target speed is based on your speed in words per minute. The computer has several messages to display, depending on your performance.Target speed examples. Not up to target speed. You typed less than 10 words per minute. Unless this is the first couple of exercises, you can do better! Try the exercise again to see if improvements can be made. Almost missed target speed range. You typed between 10 and 14 words per minute. If you are concentrating on using the correct fingers to strike the keys, you probably will be typing in this slow-speed range. Don’t worry, speed will improve if you concentrate on using the correct fingers. Almost a bull’s eye. You typed 15 to 19 words per minute. Bull’s eye. You reached the target speed. You typed 20 to 24 words per minute. For a beginner, that’s "heavenly typing." Exceeded target speed with no errors.   You typed at a speed of 25 or more words per minute with no errors. Magic not required! Learning how to type is not magic. It requires patience and more practice. Use the NimbleFingers programs and let the Little Professor be your guide in developing valuable skills. Be patient. Once the correct finger-keystroke patterns are used, speed and accuracy occur naturally. Don’t worry about speed and accuracy. Concentrate on using the correct finger-keystroke reaches. Typing speed and accuracy will develop naturally through practice once your fingers have been “correctly trained.” |

Bodies of animals become fossilized when they are buried under sediment for long periods. The majority of fossils belong to marine creatures, as the sea provides excellent conditions for fossilization. Parts of dead creatures sink to the dark sea bed where they are protected by the salt liquid and become buried in sediment. Then, over millions of years, the creatures of old are slowly transformed into rock, or if they rot, they become motor oil. Or an exercise on housekeeping? Jim X. Gable designed a house with 68 mechanisms that make housecleaning obsolete. Each room has a unit which cleans, dries, heats, and cools. At the press of a button, the room is sprayed, quickly rinsed and blown dry. All furniture is water resistant. The waterproof walls are slanted to allow for water drainage. The sink, shower, toilet, and bathtub all clean themselves. The lazy housekeeper's clothes closet is a washer-dryer unit. |
