Typing - keyboarding exercises for nimble eyes.

Lengthly periods of typing and staring at the computer screen can create eye fatigue and eye strain. To help reduce eye strain, practice the 20 - 20 rule.

After typing for twenty minutes, look away for twenty seconds. The eye exercises presented below will give you something to do while looking away from the monitor. Unfortunately, others might think you are "a little wierd."

Smile and then tell them you are just a blink away from being normal! It's the people at www.nimblefingers.com that you should worry about.

1 Open & Shut Blinking Exercise
When staring at the screen, we often forget to blink.
So, do it now. Blink your eyes. It helps moisten them.

2 Center & Up Look Up Exercise
Open you eyes and look up.


 3 Shut & Up Shut Up Exercise
Shut your eyes. Then open you eyes and look up.


 4 Eyes center then left Look Left Exercise
Open your eyes and look left.


5 Eyes shut, then left Shut Left Exercise
Shut your eyes. Then open you eyes and look left.


 6 Eyes center then down Look Down Exercise
Open your eyes and look down.


7 Eyes shut, then down Shut Down Exercise
Shut your eyes. Then open you eye lids half-way and look down.
This is also called the "evil eye" but it should only be used by people with "Nimble Fingers."

 8 Eyes center then right Look Right Exercise
Open your eyes and look right.


9 Eyes shut, then right Shut Right Exercise
Shut your eyes. Then open you eyes and look right.


 10 Eyes all around Rock Around the Clock
Blink your eyes twice. Open your eyes and look right, left, top, down.


When keyboarding, watch out for glare on the screen as this is very irrating. Also, it is a good idea to keep the screen clean so that the characters will be extra "sharp."

You are not even pretending to read these Tips .. Are you?
I know I repeat myself... But I call it reinforcement.
So would you at least glance at these tips?



Smile! It releases tensions and makes for a happy environment.

Type without looking at the keys. Use a quick stroke to strike each key. Do not press or mash the key. Strike the key quickly and move on !

Sit erect. Your feet should be flat on the floor. Poor posture is tiring and leads to errors.

Develop keyboarding skills. You must have a desire to learn. You cannot learn to type by reading and then banging away at the keys. Assistance is needed for guidance and to recommend corrective lessons. The Little Professor will be your private tutor.

Set up a schedule. Unless you establish a schedule for learning it is all to easy to find an excuse for not practicing. The Little Professor never promised you a rose garden. It takes practice to develop keyboarding skills.

Do you have an extra fifteen minutes? Then you can complete a couple of practice exercises. It might not sound like much, but you have helped develop your skills.

Practice, but avoid "over - working. We have extensive finger dexterity exercises as well as numerous physical stretching exercise to help reduce stress.

Two-step? Check out the finger dexterity exercises called the two-step and the Samba.

Have it your way. Downloadable exercises can be used to customize many of the Nimble Fingers programs, or create your own. There are numerous standardized terms and timed exercises from a variety of activities.

Special interests? Are you interested in: Art? Cooking? Military? Fish? Airplanes? Sports? Gardens? Civic topics? Medical or legal terminology? There is probably an online exercise available for FREE downloading.

A private tutor is needed. A private tutor is needed, but they are often expensive. So, we have built - in The Little Professor as your assistant in the Nimble Fingers programs. He will guide you in learning and point out when an exercise needs to be re -keyed.

Numerous exercises are needed. Remember, practice is necessary to develop skills. The problem is that boredom can set in if you are constantly re - keying the same exercises. To prevent this from happening, there are over hundreds of exercises built into the Nimblefingers programs, plus there are hundreds of downloadable exercises.

Check your hands ! Your fingers should be on the home-row keys and your hands should slant at the same angle as the keyboard. Do not let your wrists become lazy and rest against the desk or the keyboard.

Re-key an exercise if you are not satisfied. After completing the beginning exercises, using the correct finger should be automatic. If you still have to look at the keyboard when you type a particular key, rerun the appropriate exercise.
